In an interview with Distractify in 2023, Lindsey explained how she and Blaine started dating after her breakup with her ex and Love After Lockup co-star, Daonte Sierra. “I think a lot of it was that he was there for me,” she said. “Like he was the one that helped me get back and forth to therapy. He’s the one that helped me find a job.”
She continued, “I mean, when you’re with somebody all day, every day … those feelings do develop. And then I didn’t know what to do with them.” Lindsey also explained how her relationship with Blaine was different than Daonte. “We have a lot of issues. Like we have a lot of issues. And communication is a large one,” she said. “I need somebody who’s in that same mindset with me.”
She claimed that she and Daonte “never argued” at the start of their relationship, however, that changed once she was release from prison. “And the more we argued, the less I wanted to talk to him. And the less I wanted to talk to him, the more he felt insecure about it,” Lindsey said. “I didn’t want to hurt him because I really liked him. But I also didn’t want to be with him anymore.” She continued, “It wasn’t working for me.”
Lindsey admitted, however, that her breakup with Daonte left her with “a lot of regrets.” “But I honestly don’t know what I would have done differently,” she said, claiming that her emotions were just “entirely too much “ for her at the time. “I really miss having like, at the very least, that friendship with Daonte, but we did not have a very healthy relationship.”
Lindsey also confirmed that she and Daonte are notin speaking terms, as a friendship “wasn’t very healthy” for either of them. “I’d rather like Daonte and miss Daonte from a distance than I would have an unhealthy relationship. Because we are obviously just toxic for each other,” Lindsey said.
