It seems like Prince Harry just can’t catch a break from the criticism, as it’s now his style that’s being mocked by former England footballer and Match of the Day TV host, Gary Lineker.
The original article, published in The Telegraph, was written by men’s style expert Derek Guy, listing the best and worst looks of Summer 2023. While Gary’s style was a hit for the expert, Prince Harry‘s was definitely a miss, as ‘Amercia’s most outspoken fashion critic’ called his style ‘basic’ and ‘odd’.
Prince Harry’s style dubbed ‘odd’ by fashion critic
Usually, it’s Meghan Markle who has her fashion choices examined, as she was recently spotted in ‘$40k glam’. However, it looks like the shoe’s on the other foot this time.
Although Harry’s style was criticized, the critic wasn’t all bad, complimenting his “perfectly tailored military garb.”
“From what I can tell, when he has to go to events and wear military garb, those clothes are beautiful,” the outspoken American claimed. “They’re perfectly tailored – I believe made by Gieves & Hawkes,” Derek told the Telegraph.
However, it looks like the compliments stopped there, as he continued: “But when he’s in these other situations, the clothes look like basic ready-to-wear garments.”
“It’s odd for someone who has all of London’s bespoke tailors – and clearly money is no object – but it seems to me he dresses in a way that suggests he doesn’t like going to sittings because he doesn’t want to be part of [that world],” he concluded.
Although the US expert wasn’t too sure who Gary Linekar was, he still complimented his style, and that was enough for him to ‘mock’ the Duke of Sussex. “I don’t know who this is, but he looks fantastic,” is what was written about him.
Taking to his X account, formerly known as Twitter, the former Barcelona forward shared a screenshot of the article which featured a picture of himself, Harry, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and King Charles.
The title read: “Why Prince Harry’s style is ‘odd’ and Gary Linekar looks ‘fantastic’ – by America’s most outspoken fashion critic.”
Alongside the screenshot, the Match of the Day TV host penned: “You’ve either got or you haven’t got …. [cry laughing emojis]”
Harry’s fashion has ‘changed’ since moving to the US
Many fans are saying Harry is in his Hollywood era, as he’s recently been spotted wearing high-end designer brands, such as Hermès and Dior.
While attending the WellChild award show, the 39-year-old stepped out in a hand-sewn silk Hermès tie covered with the brand’s famous links crossed under and over each other to form the letter ‘H’. Fitting, for his name.
Earlier this year, when the Duke was back in the UK to testify as part of his civil action against Associated Newspapers, and all eyes were on his suit as he sported Dior.
Eagle-eyed fans spotted the miniature gold bee embroidered on the bottom of his shirt, and they couldn’t get enough. We love a stylish King! Or should we say, Prince?
