A fire inside the transformer plant at Howard Industries sent Laurel firefighters to the scene just before midnight last Friday, Chief Leo Brown of the Laurel Fire Department reported.
Three engines under the command of Battalion Chief Tommy Ferguson were dispatched to the plant in the industrial park at 11:30 p.m. The fire was found in the oven area of the plant and firefighters “performed an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in about two hours,” Brown said.
